Question: How are taxes collected?

Part of the Treasury Department, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) is in charge of enforcing tax laws and collecting taxes. Our system of income tax is called a graduated or progressive income tax, where the more someone makes, the higher their tax rate. This was a product of the Sixteenth Amendment to the Constitution.
