You may remember this song from the movie Major League -- perhaps the funniest baseball movie ever made. If you never saw it -- rent it (provided that you are over 18, or accompanied by a parent.) This is Jacobs Field -- or they call it -- "The Jake by the Lake." The old ballpark, Cleveland Municipal Stadium, was nicknamed "The Mistake by the Lake," because it wasn't overly appealing.

Cleveland was known for having some of the smallest crowds in baseball, until Jacob's field opened its doors in 1994. The new ballpark is gorgeous, and the fans are showing up in droves to see the Tribe. The Indians even made it to the World Series in 1995 and 1997. In 95, they swept my beloved Red Sox out of the playoffs ... but in 1997 they knocked out the Yankee$. All's forgiven.
