Definition: Impeachment

Impeachment does not mean to kick out of office! The House of Representatives can impeach a federal official. This means to charge with “high crimes and misdemeanors.” After the House impeaches, the Senate holds a trial and decides if they want to kick the official out of office. Two Presidents have been impeached (Andrew Johnson and Bill Clinton). Neither President was kicked out of office.
