Answer: Early Greek culture emerged around 2000 BC near Mycenae. These people were the Mycenaens.

Greece is:                        

1. Surrounded by water on three sides, making it a peninsula perfect for travel and trade.

2. Mountainous which made it difficult to link ancient city-states. This led to isolation.
