Question: How did World War I coincide with Indian demands for independence? (scroll down for answer)

 

 

 

Answer: In World War I, British-Indian troops served proudly. However, this did not mean a reward of independence. Outrage of imperial occupation grew in 1919, and protests began to emerge all over the country. Notably, a peaceful protest turned deadly in Amritsar, Punjab.
