Question: Why did Jackson veto the recharter of the Bank of the US? (scroll down for answer)

Answer:

In his veto message, Jackson says he vetoed the bank because:

1. Foreigners had too much stock in the bank.

2. The Bank favored the rich, and not the common man.

He also did not trust Nicholas Biddle, the head of the bank. He thought he was corrupt.
