Question: What else should I know about Buddhism? (scroll down for answer)

Answer:

1. It spread from India to other parts of Asia, specifically China. (Note: In Japan, the ancient religion was Shintoism, which meant "the way of the gods." This religion meant worshipping ancestors, and nature.)

2. Buddhism is similar to Hinduism, but there is no caste system.

3. The Mahayana sect allowed others to become Buddhas. They also wanted to allow all people, not just monks, to worship. This opened up the religion to more people.

4. The Theravada sect believed in interpreting the old teachings of Buddha.

5. Through trade, Buddhism spread to China, Korea, Japan, and Indonesia.
