SANTA FE

(scroll down for Native American Statue and Dawes Act)

If you want to live here, your house must be Adobe brown. SCROLL DOWN TO SEE THE WEIRDEST THING I EVER SAW ON A STATUE!!!!

BROWNNNNNNN ...

BROWNNNNNNN ...

BROWNNNNNNN ...

THERE IS A CROSS OUT ON A STATUE!!! WHAT DID IT SAY HERE THAT HAD TO BE REMOVED? I'M GUESSING SOMETHING POLITICALLY INCORRECT!!! I find history to be ironic ... a pillar that honors those who fought against Indians, in a square where dozens of Native Americans are selling art, jewelry, and antiques that honor their culture. I wonder how many have read the pillar in the square. All over New Mexico, you see Native Americans who have assimilated to American culture, yet have maintained their identity. The Dawes Act of 1887 attempted to assimilate all Native Americans. From what I've witnessed, the Act, and the philosophy behind it, affected people quite differently.

POTATOES ARE ALSO BROWN!
