Why was it so hard to get a hotel within a 200 mile radius of Mount Rushmore in early August, 2003? The answer is -- it was the Sturgis Biker Rally in the Black Hills. Picture it -- thousands and thousands of bikers riding on the highways. I think we were the only car. And guess who got pulled over? Yup! We broke the following law: When a police car is on the shoulder of the highway, you can't pass in the right lane -- you must go to the left lane first, and then move back to the right lane. Brilliant! Well, hundreds of bikers laughed at us as they sped by helmetless. Here is my friend Nedug driving with bikers on his left. I would have taken part in the festivities, but I think they would have outraced my Big Wheels.
