Definition: Griswold v. Connecticut
Another case regarding the right to privacy was
Griswold v.
Connecticut. In this 1965 case, a Connecticut law
making it illegal for married people to obtain contraceptives
(birth control) was declared unconstitutional by a 7-2
decision. The case was brought by Estelle Griswold, a member
of the organization Planned Parenthood. Similar to the
Roe case, the Bill
of Rights was applied to the states with use of the Fourteenth
Amendment.
