Question:
What were some of the weaknesses of the Articles of
Confederation?
After winning the Revolutionary War, the new United States had
to form a government. Instead of drawing up a strong
Constitution, they lived by the weak Articles of Confederation
from 1781-1789. The Articles gave more power to the state
governments, than it did the
federal (or
central/national) government. Such a distribution of
power is called
decentralized power.
