Definition: May Fourth Movement
After Japan received more land in
China after World War I, young Chinese students took to the streets
in protest. This protest reached its peak on May 4, 1919, as a
widespread nationalistic movement protested Japanese rule. Many of
these protestors would soon support a new form of
government…communism.
