Assassinated
Abraham Lincoln on April 14, 1865 as part of a larger conspiracy to
target members of government. He shot Lincoln at Ford's Theater
during a production of Our American Cousin. He waited for the
part of the show with the loudest laughter, pulled the trigger, and
then leaped to the stage. Andrew Johnson became President when
Lincoln died the next day.
