Dogs
|
This was really sad. If you have
ever been to a country with impoverished parts of it, then you know
that animals run wild. But in Cusco and outside, there was an
abundance of stray dogs ... most of which looked diseased, frail,
injured, or bewildered. On our first day in Cusco, we even saw a
motorist attempt to run one over on purpose. The dogs here are not at
all menacing. At home, whenever I go for a jog, I have to run away
from dogs on a leash who bark at me. What can I say, I'm not liked.
But in Peru, the dogs ignore people, and don't have enough energy to
bark. In Lima, there were more dogs on leashes. However, in the
mountains it's a sad state of affairs if you are a dog lover ... and
there is nothing the ASPCA could do to immediately change things. |
