I am probably the only person excited to find William H. Seward's desk in Alaska. Though, it is debated if this is the actual desk that he signed the treaty to bring Alaska to the United States.  People thought that buying polar bears would be a waste of money ...  But "Seward's Folly," became a goldmine ... literally. Alaska's gold and oil resources added to the wealth of the Industrial Revolution in the US.
