SEE ALASKA AND HAWAII TOGETHER
People
thought I was crazy when I said, “well, if I’m going to go to Alaska,
I might as well go to Hawaii while I am there.” That may sound weird,
but think about it. Especially if you live on the East Coast, you
might as well knock those two out at the same time. And you can do it
for under two thousand dollars off peak! It’s kind of cheating, but if
you do a cruise in each state, you can get the highlights, and then
get out of there. Alaskan and Hawaiian cruises are two of the cheaper
ways to cruise, compared to European and South American cruises.
Especially with Alaska, there are dozens and dozens to choose from. If
you travel off peak with a cruise, it
can
be a few hundred dollars for the entire week! Here is what you do …
first, you go on your Alaskan cruise. They generally leave Vancouver
or Seattle, and come back to the same port. Once you are done with
that cruise, you rent a car from Vancouver to Seattle, Portland, or
San Francisco. If you give yourself two days between the cruises, you
can drive from cruise 1,to cruise 2. Also, over those few days, make
sure you spend a day in Seattle, and get in a nice scenic drive to
Mount St. Helens. Be careful renting
internationally, I recommend getting two cars. (See #7)
You can generally get good deals with airfare from the West Coast
through many cruise brokers. Depending on which city you get the deal
on, that’s the city you should fly out of. Once you are through with
Hawaii, you can pay a little extra to the travel agent, and get your
flight back to wherever it is that you live.
