Imagine a world where everything is a dollar. Actually, just picture the dollar store. In China ... the dollar store comes to you. Hats, fans, postcards, and even ... WATCHES! Everything can be a dollar if you bargain right. Well, the Rolex Watches are really 4 dollars on the street. But the Mao Zedong watches pictured above are cheap enough. But be careful ... the price must be bargained for. Now it's time for Mr. Klaffs tips on getting everything for a dollar:

In China, if you go to a market, you will hear the sweet music of ...

"Hello Hello Hello Hello Hello." The local guides call these women, "Hello Ladies."

When you hear this, find an item you like. Follow this conversation as your guide.

Me: How much is this?

Hello Lady: 100 dollars.

Me: That's too much. (walk away)

Hello Lady: (grabs arm) You tell me how much. (hands you calculator)

Me: (type the digit #1 on the calculator) I will give you a dollar.

Hello Lady: (looks at calculator) You are crazy.

That's when you walk away.

Hello Lady: (grabs arm) OK, 1 dollar. (rolls eyes)

It's simple really. Use this for anything on the street. The only problem is, when you get home, you will go to the grocery store and try to bargain for milk.

To me, shopping and traffic were the two funniest highlights of the trip to China.
