Answer:

Depends on your teacher. Most state tests don't emphasize battles. But, you should know:

1. The Allies began in Africa and then went North to liberate Italy.

2. D-Day, 6/6/1944, was the largest battle of the war. It led to the liberation of France.

3. Battle of the Bulge - The deadliest battle of the War for the Americans. However, Germany could not permanently break Allied lines.

4. Hitler killed himself on April 30, 1945 in an underground bunker. V-E (Victory in Europe) Day would be on May 8 when Germany surrendered.
