Answer: In the curriculum, the Jewish religion is not tested on as much as events such as the pogroms or Holocaust. Still, you should know:

1. Monotheism means a belief in one God.

2. The Torah is the sacred text. It includes the Five Books of the Old Testament of the Bible. In the second Book, Exodus, Moses is handed the Ten Commandments from God.

3. The Kingdom of Israel was established around 1000 BC, and Jerusalem was its capital. Strong Hebrew Kings were David and Solomon. Solomon’s Temple was destroyed by the Babylonians.

4. Jews were kicked out of the Roman Empire around 135 AD. They then scattered throughout the world. This was known as the Diaspora.
